In the media - Examples of War & their causes
For lower mark questions (usually 1 - 2) you may be asked to simply state a couple of reasons why a country may choose to go to war or give a few examples of 'recent wars'. Recent is not actually defined, so I would suggest you stick with the 20th and 21st century to be safe. It is really important that you pay close attention to the amount of marks awarded for these types of questions, it is very easy to misread and give only one reason when the question has asked for two.
Find below some news articles and examples of 'recent' wars. Try to identify the causes of those wars and a few bits of information as details could be used in higher mark questions (6 markers) to expand your answer (the first E in PEE).

Modern Warfare - Nuclear proliferation & WMDs
It is always useful to be aware of the various arguments for and against some of the ethical questions in the course. When it comes to the use of weapons and mass destruction and nuclear proliferation (the spread / gaining of nuclear weapons - by countries), there are various arguments for and against their possession. In 2013 the 6 mark question "Countries with nuclear weapons should get rid of them" was used and as we know it is essential to provide a balanced argument on a question such as this. Below you will find some of the general arguments for and against the use and possession of nuclear weapons.
Arguments For Arguments against:
To discourage other countries from attacks (deterrent) Nuclear proliferation makes the use of the weapons more likely (not less likely)
The above must work because nuclear weapons have not been used since 1945 Their use and destruction is out of proportion and thus not morally justified
They cost billions which could be better spent elsewhere
The possession of them encourages other countries to develop their nuclear capability
