Religious attitudes to the use and treatment of animals
What else do I need to know?
Along with the religion and prejudice module, the animal rights module is fairly short and straight forward. As well as knowing the religious perspectives on the use and treatment of animals, you should have some knowledge on the use of animals in society and some personal opinion on the morality of those uses.
The uses of animals that we have covered (in class are): transport and work, farming (free-range and factory), sport, hunting, fur and ivory trade, companions, zoos and experimentation.
Look through your notes in your book and make sure you know a bit abut each of those things, plus your own opinion on the issue. Think about whether or not you think that the issue you are looking at is a justifiable use of animals. What are the reasons for your opinion? Why do you think it is or is not a moral (right) use of animals?
