AS Level Descriptors for A01 and Ao2
Below you will find the level descriptors for A01 (knowledge and understanding) found in a part A question and A02 (evaluation) found in a part B question. Here are some tips/points of information before you start writing.
- A02 material in A01 answers will not be cross credited (and vice versa) therefore do not write notes / references like "see argument in part a question) etc.
- A01 – knowledge and understanding is (surprisingly) testing your knowledge and understanding upon a particular topic. You should select relevant evidence, examples and terminology to demonstrate your understanding. Sample questions for A01 include: "Explain how Mill's utilitarian theory might be used to decide the right course of action", "Explain how a follower of natural law might respond to human embryo research"
- A02 – requires you to sustain a critical line of argument and
justify a point of view. Examples of A02 questions include: "To what extent can human embryo research be justified" and "Considering the consequences is more important than following the rules" Discuss"
